Northshore Halloween Activities for Children

HalloweenIf you’re looking for something Not-So-Scary for the kids to do on the Northshore this Halloween, (Covington, Mandeville or Abita Springs) look no further. We’ve found a variety of activities for you to enjoy with your little ones in St. Tammany Parish, starting this weekend! Whether you are seeking safe trick-or-treating locations to, pumpkin picking and decorating, or games and hay rides, you can find it on the Northshore. There’s bound to be something that catches your little ghoul’s eye.

Knights of Columbus Pumpkin Patch – October 17-31 – St. Peter Parish, Covington

Bring the kids out to the largest selection of quality pumpkins in Western St. Tammany Parish, and let them pick a winner!

Monster Mash – Saturday, October 17 – 10:00-3:00 – Bogue Falaya Park in Covington

This event, which raised money for the St. Tammany Parish Hospital parenting center, offers games, children’s entertainers, and refreshments from local restaurants. Tickets are $15 for children in advance or $20 at the gate, and $5 for adults in advance or $10 at the gate.

BooFest 2015 – Saturday, October 24 – 10:00-3:00 – Lakeview Regional Medical Center in Covington

At this popular event, children can trick or treat at over 60 “haunted houses.” Admission is $2, and all proceeds benefit children with disabilities and their families. Gates open at 9:30 for special needs families.

Trickin’ and Treatin’ at the Covington Trailhead – 10:00-12:00

This free event features a carved pumpkin contest (pumpkins are carved ahead of time and brought to the event for judging), trick-or-treating, and an interactive performance of The Wizard of Oz. Attendees should bring canned or boxed food donations for the Covington Food Bank.

Pumpkins in the Park – Saturday, October 31 – 11:00-2:00 – 111 Terra Bella Blvd in Covington

Activities include pumpkin painting, face painting, a hayride, crafts and light refreshments. While the event is free, children should bring a non-perishable food item for the Covington Food Bank.

St. Timothy United Methodist Church Fall Festival – Saturday October 31 – 3:00-5:00 – St. Timothy UMC in Mandeville

Children should come in costume to this free event, where they can enjoy games, a petting zoo, a hay ride, and refreshments. A chili cook-off we be held, as well.
