The last thing you want to be doing in the midst of a move is fighting crowds in the mall. Buy your gifts ahead of time or, if it’s too late for that, shop online. You can do it at your convenience, and there are no lines!
Don’t Move Your Gifts
Take all those gifts you’ve bought and mail or deliver them prior to your move. You don’t want to have to pack and transport them to your new location, then search for them once you get to your new home. If ordering online, have items shipped directly to the recipient with a gift message included.
Leave Out a Few Decorations
Don’t do any elaborate decorating, but leave out a few special holiday items to keep your family in the holiday spirit. Transport these separately from your other boxes, and unpack them early to make your new residence feel more like home.
Cut Out Unnecessary Tasks
This may not be the year to design your own cards or bake elaborate treats for friends and neighbors. Give yourself a pass on these tasks this year, and make a mental note to remember to do them next year. You will stay more relaxed if you stay focused on the move at hand and don’t attempt to do everything for everyone.
Donate Items to Those in Need
Not only will you be doing something to benefit those less fortunate, but, as an added bonus, you will have fewer items to move to your new location.
