How COVID-19 Is Affecting Our Lifestyles & Businesses

During the COVID-19 crisis, many of people have been forced to self-quarantine, non-essential businesses have been ordered to pause operations and families have struggled with adjusting to these changes. These swift changes in lifestyle have affected almost every aspect of our lives globally.

While Fannie Mae projects a steep decline in home sales, predicted to fall nearly 15%, some families were in the process of purchasing a new home, moving to a new home or somewhere in the buying process when the COVID-19 pandemic began. Stalled home sales or moves can cause an added strain on families financially – double-mortgages, missed payments and delayed career moves. You may not be able to delay moving now.

How To Move During The COVID-19 Pandemic

So how can you move during COVID-19? While the COVID-19 situation rapidly evolves and changes daily, we are staying well-informed of restrictions and limitations being enforced for public safety. It is NOT impossible to move during the COVID-19 pandemic. But additional precautions and safety measures should be taken.

As an essential business, Atmosphere Movers has quickly adjusted operations in order to minimize the interruption of moving services while protecting our employees and clients. We have conducted strict safety training, converted operational procedures to include more digital moving services and dedicated time to staying well-informed regarding the rapid changes in our environment.

We are highly trained to handle moves safely and quickly. Our nationwide moving service has been dedicated to helping families and businesses move within Louisiana and nationwide during this pandemic.

Guidelines For Safely Moving

The health and safety of our customers and employees is our highest priority here at Atmosphere Movers. If you are planning a move during the Coronavirus pandemic or have already secured a move date with us, it is best to take as many preventative measures as possible. Here are a few tips to help with some of the safety measures we are taking or have to offer during the current coronavirus health crisis:

  • Take Advantage Of Downtime. If you have been self-quarantined, this is a great opportunity to spend more time organizing for your move. You can create a moving folder to keep al of your moving receipts and paperwork together, print checklists and spend more time organizing and preparing your items by room.
  • Providing virtual estimates. When possible, we are providing virtual walkthrough estimates rather than in-person contact moving estimates. This can be done using video chat on your mobile phone as you walk through your home with one of our estimators.
  • Greeting customers with a smile. We will greet our customers with a friendly smile as opposed to handshakes. Another method of non-contact greeting to ensure the safety of you and our employees. Many of our normal operational paperwork has been converted to electronic format so that we can minimize contact.
  • Let our movers serve you in the safest way possible. You should let your movers know ahead of time if you or anyone in your household has the virus or may have been in contact with someone who has it. If this is the case, we can help you reschedule a convenient moving date after your family has been safely cleared of the virus.
  • Extra sanitary precautionsOur team has been especially trained and properly equipped with the PPE (personal protection equipment) necessary to move your family safely. We also recommend that you (and your household family) practice good hygiene with frequent hand washing. We recommend that you wear gloves, face mask and other PPE to help protect yourself and others during the move. Placing hand sanitizer by doors and next to sinks is a good idea. Please avoid trying to help with loading and unloading your boxes. Let our professional movers do their job and get it done for you. Also, avoid touching your mouth and face. Be sure and remember to practice social distancing as well.
  • Have A Cleaning Kit Prepared. Be sure to not pack up all your cleaning supplies. We recommend putting together a small, plastic tote to keep some essential cleaning products available during the moving process. Items such as soap, paper towels, hand sanitizer, disinfecting wipes and additional PPE should be kept in this cleaning kit. You can transport this kit in your vehicle during the move in order to maximize usage.
  • Use only new moving boxes. The coronavirus can live on cardboard for up to 24 hours, so it is not a good idea to use recycled or used boxes from grocery stores, friends, or neighbors. If you do not have your own boxes already at your house or need any extras, buy them new. You can purchase new boxes at a store or through us here at Atmosphere Movers.
  • If you need to cancel your move. If you need to cancel with us, the sooner you let us know, the better.
  • Wipe down items and boxes before moving. To help reduce the risk of germs carrying over to your new household, use disinfectant wipes to clean surfaces of furniture, boxes, and other items before loading.
  • Use our Full-Service Moving Option. Our full-service moving option ensures that a dedicated team of professional movers will pack your household, load your items securely into our transport vehicles and unload your household at your destination. This means that you can minimize the number of people involved with your move and reduce the risk of exposure. We can even provide new, clean packing materials to pack your entire home. This is a 100% hassle-free moving solution.
