Why Move to Baton Rouge?

If you’re interested in relocating and Baton Rouge is on your radar, you have a lot to look forward to. If you’re still on the fence, then it shouldn’t take much to persuade you.

Your move to Baton Rouge will land you slap in the middle of an historic and culturally rich part of the great United States. But is it for you? There are plenty of things to consider, and here we’ll offer you a few solid ones.

Sports. If you are a fan of college football, and particularly the SEC, Baton Rouge should be like a playground. The LSU Tigers play great NCAA Baseball and Football, and have filled “Death Valley” — aka the Tiger’s football stadium — with upwards of 90,000 people. It has even earned respect as one of the loudest stadiums in college football.

Great food, even to geaux! Everyone knows that Louisiana is known for great food. The tailgating and cookouts are legendary in Baton Rouge, where the college is front and center in town. There are great restaurants, dives, and a legendary drive through chicken joint called Raisin Canes. On top of those staples, there is also a second to none burger you can score from a place called Burgersmith. Yum.move to baton rouge

Major dog parade. Yes, you read that right, at the CAAWS Mystic Krewe of Mutts, you can dress up your dogs and parade them around in fancy, Mardi Gras-esque wagons. It sounds like something that the kids could really get into, and a great way to remind them that the dog is part of the family, too!

Outdoor activities. The weather won’t really turn wintery on you, so you can play outdoors plenty. There is amazing hiking, canoeing, kayaking, boating, fishing, hunting, biking, and just about anything else you can imagine. The huge levees built along the Mississippi River provide awesome walking and biking trails near downtown. And on the outskirts there is plenty of swamp to get comfortable in.

Nightlife. Well, there are a bunch of great casinos, and because of the college life, there is plenty to do at night. There is a nice strip of bars and restaurants near LSU campus that are unique and full of life. Going out after a nice football game for some craft brewed beers from Tin Roof Brewery is another perk.

This obviously only scratches the surface, but I know I’m already sold on a move to Baton Rouge if I ever had the opportunity.
